Meenakshi College of Nursing Spreads the “Gift of Life” Through Blood Donation Camp at MIHMCT

The Rotaract Club of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), in association with the Rotaract Club of Madras Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MIHMCT), successfully organized a blood donation camp titled “Gift of Life” on 20 January 2026 at the MIHMCT Campus, from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM. The initiative was conducted with the support of the Government Primary Health Centre, Parivakkam, the Blood Centre of Government Medical College & Hospital, and the Rotary Club of Chennai Golden Galaxy.

The event was presided over by Mr. P. Navamani, Managing Director, and was formally inaugurated by Dr. J. Prabhakaran, District Health Officer, who motivated students to actively contribute to this noble cause of saving lives. The programme was graced by several distinguished health officials, including Dr. P. Prathiba, Block Medical Officer; Dr. T. Prathiba, Medical Officer, Government Hospital and Medical College Blood Bank; Mr. S. Edward Rajan, Senior Health Supervisor; and Mr. Rajapandian, Health Inspector.

An enthusiastic group of 70 students volunteered for blood donation. Following medical screening and eligibility assessment, 32 donors were cleared, including five students from Meenakshi College of Nursing, who successfully donated blood. Addressing the gathering, Dr. J. Prabhakaran commended the students for their initiative and emphasized the critical role of regular blood donation in emergency care and lifesaving medical interventions.

The blood donation camp witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and healthcare professionals, reflecting a strong spirit of compassion, community service, and social responsibility.

The programme stood as a meaningful reminder of how collective efforts by young volunteers can make a significant impact on public health and humanitarian causes.
