Meenakshi College of Occupational Therapy Celebrates International Women’s Day with Focus on Empowerment and Inclusion

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Meenakshi College of Occupational Therapy (MCOT), MAHER, celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 on 28th March 2026 at the Auditorium, MAHER, with active participation from students and faculty.

The programme was graced by Dr. Lilly Christopher, Dean – Student Affairs, and Dr. Shanthi, Principal, Meenakshi College of Arts and Science, whose presence added significance to the occasion.

The celebration aimed to promote awareness on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and the importance of women’s health and well-being. The event commenced with an invocation, followed by the lighting of the kuthuvilakku. A vibrant welcome dance by students set an enthusiastic tone for the programme, followed by the welcome address by the coordinator.

A series of fun games and interactive activities were conducted, encouraging participation, teamwork, and engagement among students. A notable highlight of the event was that the entire programme was coordinated by male students, reflecting a progressive approach and demonstrating respect, support, and recognition towards women.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of the event with enthusiastic involvement from all participants. This engagement enhanced students’ awareness of gender equality, social responsibility, and the importance of inclusive and respectful practices in society.
