The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Occupational Therapy (MCOT), MAHER, actively participated in a Pond Cleaning Campaign held at the Marundeeshwarar Temple Pond, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, on 24th March 2026. The initiative was organized by Urbaser Sumeet in association with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
A total of 29 students, along with NSS Coordinator Dr. Umarani C and NSS Programme Officer Ms. Melba Jesurani A, took part in the activity. The participants were involved in cleaning the pond surroundings by removing waste materials and debris, contributing to environmental sanitation and the preservation of water bodies.
The event was observed by Mr. Mahmood Sait, CEO of Urbaser Sumeet, who appreciated the students for their active involvement and commitment to community service.
The campaign was successfully completed with enthusiastic participation, promoting awareness on environmental cleanliness and the importance of protecting natural water resources. This field engagement enhanced students’ sense of environmental responsibility, teamwork, and community participation, while strengthening their awareness of sustainable practices.
