Meenakshi College of Pharmacy Conducts FDP on CO–PO Mapping and Outcome-Based Education

Meenakshi College of Pharmacy, Thandalam, organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “CO–PO Mapping & Outcome-Based Education (OBE)” on 7th April 2026 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Room No. 001.

The programme witnessed the participation of the Principal, Heads of Departments, and faculty members from all departments, reflecting a collective commitment towards academic excellence and accreditation preparedness.

The session focused on strengthening faculty understanding of Outcome-Based Education and the effective formulation of Course Outcomes (COs). Participants were guided on drafting clear, measurable, and assessable COs using appropriate action verbs aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy, while ensuring coverage across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.

Detailed discussions were held on the methodology of CO–PO and PSO mapping, including correlation levels such as high, moderate, and low. A sample mapping exercise was presented to provide practical clarity and facilitate better understanding among participants.

Faculty members actively engaged in the session by presenting their drafted COs, which were critically reviewed and refined with constructive suggestions to improve precision, eliminate ambiguity, and ensure alignment with assessment strategies and syllabus content.

The programme concluded with key action points, including revising COs as per standard guidelines, completing CO–PO mapping with appropriate justification within a defined timeline, and conducting department-wise validation meetings. The Principal emphasized the importance of effective CO–PO mapping in enhancing student learning outcomes and achieving quality benchmarks in higher education.

This academic engagement strengthened faculty competence in curriculum design, assessment alignment, and outcome-based teaching practices, contributing to improved quality of education and accreditation readiness.
