Meenakshi College of Pharmacy Conducts NSS Beach Cleaning Drive at Besant Nagar Beach

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Meenakshi College of Pharmacy organized a Beach Cleaning Activity on 22 February 2026 at Besant Nagar Beach, with enthusiastic participation from I Year B.Pharm students. The initiative was undertaken to promote environmental awareness, social responsibility, and meaningful community engagement among young volunteers.

The activity focused on the systematic removal of plastic waste, non-biodegradable materials, and other litter scattered across the shoreline. Working collaboratively in teams, students demonstrated discipline, commitment, and a strong sense of civic responsibility. The programme highlighted the ecological importance of maintaining clean coastal ecosystems, minimizing marine pollution, and adopting sustainable waste management practices to safeguard natural habitats.

Beyond physical clean-up efforts, the drive served as a powerful learning experience. NSS volunteers gained practical exposure to real-time environmental conservation activities while reinforcing essential values such as teamwork, leadership, and service to society. The initiative also sensitized beach visitors about the pressing need to reduce littering and protect shared public spaces.

The event reflected the institution’s commitment to holistic education and the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You,” by inspiring students to contribute actively toward environmental protection and sustainable community development.

Such collective efforts reaffirm that responsible citizenship begins with small, meaningful actions toward a cleaner and healthier environment.
