The 64th National Pharmacy Week was celebrated with great energy and enthusiasm at Meenakshi College of Pharmacy on 22nd November 2025, highlighting the theme “Pharmacists – Advocates in Vaccination.” The event focused on reinforcing the role of pharmacists as essential contributors to community health, particularly in spreading awareness and building confidence in vaccination as a key preventive measure. The programme began with an invocation and the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing service, knowledge and commitment to the welfare of society. Prof. Dr. D. Chamundeeswari, Principal, delivered the Welcome Address, emphasising the growing responsibility of pharmacists as educators and frontline health advisors in preventing vaccine-preventable diseases.
A major highlight of the celebration was a public awareness rally, in which faculty members and students participated enthusiastically. The rally aimed to create public awareness about the importance of vaccines, dispel myths and misinformation, and showcase the role of pharmacists as accessible and trusted healthcare professionals. Participants interacted with the public, encouraging open discussions about vaccination benefits and the need for widespread immunization to protect community health. The event was further enriched by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. T. Sathish, Vice President – Regulatory & Corporate Support, Tablets (India) Ltd., Vice Chairman – IDMA TNPKSB, and Vice President – IPA TNSB. In his inspiring address, he highlighted the critical role of pharmacists in promoting vaccination confidence, improving patient trust, strengthening public health systems, and contributing meaningfully to healthcare communication and advocacy.
Certificates were awarded to all participants and volunteers in recognition of their involvement and spirited contribution to the National Pharmacy Week initiatives. The celebration successfully demonstrated Meenakshi College of Pharmacy’s commitment to fostering awareness, professionalism and social responsibility among budding pharmacists while reinforcing the profession’s leadership in vaccination advocacy and community health promotion.
