Meenakshi College of Pharmacy successfully conducted the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign – 3.0 on 16th December 2025 at UCCK Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vanagaram, from 11.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., as part of its continued outreach and community engagement initiatives. The programme was designed to create awareness among school students about the harmful effects of tobacco use while motivating them to adopt healthy lifestyles and develop an interest in healthcare-related careers.
The awareness session was led by Dr. L. Karpagavalli, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutics, who highlighted the multifaceted role of pharmacists in patient care, drug development, public health promotion, and clinical services. She emphasized how pharmacists serve as accessible healthcare professionals and play a crucial role in disease prevention and health education.
The campaign was further enriched by an informative and engaging talk delivered by Dr. K. Sundari, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, who elaborated on the theme “Tobacco Free Youth Campaign – 3.0.” Her session focused on the adverse health effects of tobacco consumption, common misconceptions, early prevention strategies, and the long-term impact of tobacco on physical, mental, and social well-being. Students were encouraged to make informed choices, resist peer pressure, and become ambassadors of a tobacco-free society.
The interactive nature of the programme ensured active student participation, fostering awareness, critical thinking, and responsible decision-making. The initiative effectively reinforced the message of prevention, empowerment, and healthy living, leaving a lasting impression on the young audience and encouraging them to contribute positively to community health and well-being.
