Meenakshi College of Pharmacy organised an awareness programme on “Promoting Rational Use of Medicine Through Pharmacovigilance: A Step Towards Safer Health Care” at the Seminar Hall, with the objective of sensitising students to the importance of rational medicine use and pharmacovigilance in ensuring safe and effective healthcare.
The programme commenced with an invocation and lighting of the lamp, followed by the welcome address by Prof. Dr. D. Chamundeeswari, Principal, Meenakshi College of Pharmacy, who welcomed the Chief Guest, faculty members, and students. Dr. N. Vanitha Rani was felicitated by Prof. Dr. K. K. Rajasekhar, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, MCOP, and introduced by Dr. K. Sundari, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, MCOP.
The keynote address delivered by Dr. N. Vanitha Rani focused on the significance of rational prescribing and medicine use, prevention of medication-related problems, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and the role of pharmacovigilance in promoting patient safety. An interactive session that followed enabled students to engage with the resource person and gain deeper insights into pharmacovigilance and safe medication practices.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. V. Yamuna, Lecturer, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, MCOP, followed by the National Anthem. The programme served as a valuable academic initiative in strengthening students’ awareness of responsible medicine use and patient-centred healthcare.
