Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy Organizes Workshop on “Brain Gym and Mobility Outcome Measures in Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation”

The Department of Physiotherapy in Neurosciences, headed by Dr. Sugasri Sureshkumar, Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy, organized a two-day workshop on “Brain Gym and Mobility Outcome Measures in Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation: Bridging Assessment with Intervention” on 7th and 8th October 2025 at the MAHER Auditorium.

The workshop commenced with the lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, signifying the beginning of an enlightening academic session, followed by the felicitation of the resource person, Dr. S. Cathrine Helen, MPT (PhD), Head of the Department (UG Program) and Brain Gym Specialist from RVS College of Physiotherapy, Coimbatore, by Dr. Parthasarathy, Principal, Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy.

The event received an overwhelming response, with 136 participants including students and faculty members from various institutions such as Jaya College of Physiotherapy, Saveetha College of Physiotherapy, and ACS College of Physiotherapy. The two-day workshop featured interactive hands-on sessions that provided participants with practical insights into linking Brain Gym exercises with specific outcome measures and selecting the most appropriate assessment scales for effective rehabilitation in cerebral palsy.

Engaging activities such as quizzes, one-to-one interactions, and role plays made the sessions both educational and participatory. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the distribution of certificates by the resource person and a group photo session, marking the successful completion of the event.

The workshop enriched participants with valuable knowledge on integrating assessment tools with intervention strategies, thereby enhancing clinical efficiency and innovation in cerebral palsy rehabilitation.
