Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy Organizes Seminar on the Transformative Power of Sound for International Women’s Day 2026

On the occasion of International Women’s Day – 2026, Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), MAHER, organized a seminar on “The Transformative Power of Sound in Yogic Practices” on 10th March 2026 at the MAHER Auditorium. The programme focused on promoting holistic well-being and recognizing the role of integrative practices in enhancing women’s health.

The event commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku. Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, MCYST, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of celebrating women’s contributions to society and highlighting the role of yoga and holistic therapies in promoting physical and mental well-being.

Dr. P. Karthika introduced the Chief Guest, Ms. Savithri Ravikrishnan, Senior Yoga Therapy Consultant, International Association of Yoga Therapists. In her keynote session, Ms. Savithri Ravikrishnan elaborated on the therapeutic potential of sound vibrations and mantra chanting. She explained how these practices influence the body, mind, and consciousness, contributing to stress reduction, emotional balance, and overall holistic health.

The seminar witnessed active participation from faculty members and students across various constituent colleges of MAHER, making the session highly interactive and insightful. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. K. Subbulakshmi, followed by the National Anthem.

The event served as a meaningful platform to explore the integration of traditional yogic wisdom with modern wellness approaches, reinforcing the importance of holistic health practices in everyday life.
