On April 9th, 2025, the Lecture Hall of Meenakshi Faculty of Pharmacy, Thandalam, resonated with a powerful message of health and hope as the institution celebrated World Health Day under the theme “Healthy Beginnings and Hopeful Futures.” Organized by the Cultural and Social Awareness Committee, the event brought together students and faculty for a thought-provoking session led by the esteemed Prof. Dr. K.K. Rajasekhar. In his keynote address, Dr. Rajasekhar underscored the pivotal role of maternal and newborn health in laying the foundation for resilient families and thriving communities. He shed light on crucial topics such as safe pregnancy practices, skilled childbirth, postnatal care, and the importance of addressing maternal mental health. Drawing attention to global health disparities, he spoke passionately about the urgent need to prevent maternal and neonatal deaths and called for collective action to strengthen healthcare systems and ensure universal access to quality care. The event not only deepened the participants’ understanding of these vital issues but also served as a platform for open dialogue on innovative solutions and necessary policy reforms. It concluded on a hopeful note, with a renewed commitment from all present to champion the cause of maternal and child health and contribute meaningfully to building a healthier, more equitable future.
