The Students Grievance Redressal Committee of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) organized an Awareness Programme on “Academic and Peer-Related Grievances in the Para-Clinical Year” on 12 February 2026. The initiative aimed to sensitise students to the mechanisms available for addressing academic concerns and peer-related issues, while reinforcing a culture of fairness, accountability, and mutual respect within the campus.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. R. Jayanthi, Coordinator of the Students Grievances Redressal Committee, who highlighted the importance of open communication and structured grievance redressal systems in academic institutions. This was followed by the inaugural address delivered by Prof. Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI, who underscored the institution’s commitment to safeguarding student welfare and ensuring a supportive learning environment. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Bhoopathi, Medical Superintendent, MMCHRI, who spoke on the significance of transparency and professionalism in addressing student concerns.
An informative awareness session was delivered by Mr. C. Ashok, Government Prosecutor, Economic Offences Wing Court, Kanchipuram. His session provided valuable legal perspectives on academic and peer-related grievances, clarifying students’ rights, responsibilities, and the appropriate channels for resolution. The talk emphasized ethical conduct, due process, and the importance of responsible communication in conflict situations.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, enabling students to raise queries, express their viewpoints, and gain clarity on grievance redressal procedures. The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. M. Ramya, Member of the Students Grievances Redressal Committee.
The awareness initiative reinforced the importance of structured grievance mechanisms in fostering a transparent, respectful, and student-centric academic environment.
