Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute Equips PGs with Research Excellence through BCBR Masterclass

The Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with the Research and Development Committee of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI), successfully organized a two-day workshop titled “BCBR Masterclass: Strategic Preparation Workshop for PGs” on 26th and 27th March 2026 at the New Lecture Hall (250 Block).

The programme was specifically designed to support first-year postgraduate students in their preparation for the Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) examination. Led by Organizing Secretaries Prof. Dr. K. Shankar and Dr. V. C. Punitha, the workshop brought together eminent resource persons including Dr. Shyam Sivasamy (IQAC Director, MAHER), Dr. Grace Rebecca (CMC Vellore), Dr. Sooriaprakas, and Dr. Harish Narayanan.

Spanning 14 hours of intensive academic engagement, the workshop covered key domains essential for biomedical research, including health research formulation, biostatistics, sampling techniques, study designs such as case-control, cohort, and experimental studies, as well as data management.

Approximately 100 postgraduate students actively participated in the sessions, which were designed to be interactive and concept-oriented, enabling learners to strengthen their foundational understanding and analytical approach to research methodology.

This focused academic engagement enhanced participants’ research aptitude, critical thinking, and preparedness for the BCBR examination, while strengthening their ability to design and interpret scientific studies effectively.
