MMCHRI Celebrates Pongal Vizha 2026

Pongal Vizha 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit by the Faculty and Staff Welfare Committee of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) on 13th January 2026. The celebration was organized to honour the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu while fostering cultural harmony, unity, and a sense of gratitude among faculty members, staff, and students.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Muthulakshmi, setting an auspicious tone for the festivities. This was followed by a special address by Prof. Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, who eloquently spoke on the cultural and social significance of Pongal, emphasizing the importance of preserving traditions and nurturing unity within the academic community. His address reinforced the relevance of cultural values in strengthening interpersonal bonds and institutional harmony.

A series of vibrant cultural activities added colour and energy to the celebration, including a Rangoli Competition, Pot Painting, and engaging on-stage events, which encouraged enthusiastic participation and creative expression. The celebrations culminated with the traditional Pongal Poojai, along with lively activities such as Uri Adi and Musical Chair, bringing joy and festivity to all participants.

The event concluded on a memorable note, reflecting the spirit of togetherness and cultural pride while reinforcing the importance of celebrating traditions as a means of strengthening community bonds.
