The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI), in collaboration with the Institute of Reproductive Medicine, MMM Hospital, Chennai, successfully organized a CME & IUI Workshop on 20 January 2026, focusing on contemporary approaches to infertility management and assisted reproductive techniques. The programme brought together academicians, clinicians, and specialists to enhance clinical knowledge and practical skills in intrauterine insemination and male infertility management.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Jayanthi, Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI, who emphasized the importance of continuous medical education and skill-based training in improving patient outcomes. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Bhoopathi, Medical Superintendent, MMCHRI, highlighting the evolving role of multidisciplinary collaboration in reproductive medicine. Dr. K. M. Kundavi Shankar, Director, Institute of Reproductive Medicine, MMM Hospital, Chennai, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and delivered an insightful keynote address during the first session, sharing her vast clinical experience and recent advancements in fertility care.
The academic sessions covered key aspects of infertility management, including stimulation protocols for IUI delivered by Dr. K. M. Kundavi Shankar, interpretation of semen analysis by Dr. Divya Niranjan, and the role of medical management in male infertility by Dr. Vijay Surya, Assistant Professor, Department of Urology, MMCHRI. A unique reverse panel discussion on strategies to improve IUI success was moderated by Dr. Geovin Ranji G., with expert insights from Dr. Victoria, Dr. Angamma, and Dr. Rupalatha, leading practitioners from Kanchipuram, fostering active interaction and practical problem-solving among participants.
The afternoon session focused on skill enhancement through a live demonstration and hands-on training on semen preparation protocols, led by embryologists Ms. Hema Niveda and Ms. Sandhya. The practical workshop enabled participants to gain firsthand experience in laboratory techniques essential for optimizing IUI outcomes. The CME & IUI Workshop provided a valuable platform for academic exchange, clinical learning, and capacity building, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based and skill-oriented approaches in reproductive healthcare.
