The World Vitiligo Day Awareness Program 2025 was successfully organized by Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) on 25th June 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The event aimed to raise awareness about vitiligo, break social stigma, and promote empathy and understanding towards those affected by the condition.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI, who emphasized the need for continuous education and community engagement to foster inclusive healthcare. Dr. R. Rajesh delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the event.
An impactful awareness speech was delivered by Dr. S. Kumaravel, Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology, shedding light on the causes, myths, and medical management of vitiligo. Contributions from Dr. Radha, RMO, and Dr. Sreenivasan further enriched the discussion with insights into patient care and emotional well-being.The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. R. Sivayogana.
With the active participation of 50 members, including faculty, students, patients, and the general public, the event served as a meaningful platform for education, dialogue, and solidarity with those living with vitiligo.
