NSS Unit of MCON Organizes Clean-Up Drive at School for the Visually Impaired

The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing conducted a School Clean-Up Drive from 2nd to 3rd August 2025 at the Government Higher Secondary School for the Visually Impaired, Poonamallee. The initiative was organized under the guidance of Mrs. R. Jebin Sherly, Associate Professor, MCON, with the objective of promoting environmental cleanliness and sustainability.

The program aimed to provide a cleaner and healthier environment for all children, fostering a space where everyone can thrive. Recognizing the growing importance of environmental responsibility, NSS volunteers of Meenakshi College of Nursing actively participated in cleaning the school premises, focusing particularly on the play area.

The volunteers engaged in garbage collection, sweeping of pathways, and clearing the plantation zones. Additionally, tree saplings were donated to the school, reinforcing the commitment to green initiatives.

On Day 2 (3rd August 2025), a JCB machine was employed for four hours to assist in cleaning the playground, while volunteers took charge of cleaning the adjacent areas around the park. This collective effort not only enhanced the visual appeal of the school environment but also promoted awareness about sustainable waste management.

The event served as a valuable learning experience, instilling a sense of civic duty among the NSS volunteers, who were encouraged to extend these practices to their homes and communities.

Such initiatives inspire collective responsibility and demonstrate how united efforts can lead to a cleaner and greener future for all.
