The Orientation Programme for the newly admitted B.Sc. (N) I Year students of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) was successfully conducted from 18th to 23rd August 2025. The programme was designed to familiarize students with the college environment, academic departments, professional expectations in nursing, and hostel life, while also instilling values of discipline, responsibility, and self-awareness.
The inaugural day began with an introduction to the college, laboratories, library, parent hospital, and hostel, led by Dr. Kavitha M, Professor, and Mrs. Kadirvelu Divya, Nursing Tutor. Students were then introduced to various academic departments by the respective faculty, followed by an interactive ice-breaking mentoring session.

Dhanaraj, Principal. Health and safety awareness was delivered by Mrs. Jothilakshmi, Inspector of Police, Mangadu. Creative activities such as an essay on self and family, a painting competition on “Nature,” and mentoring on human values encouraged reflection and expression among students.
The programme also featured sessions on Nursing Career Scope by Dr. Jayabharathi B, Vice Principal, and an introduction to professional associations and the student council by Ms. Bhuvaneswari E, Professor, and Dr. Thephilah Cathrine R, Associate Professor. The day concluded with a lively Freshers’ Welcome Programme hosted by B.Sc. (N) II Semester students.
On the final day, students visited Valluvar Kottam under faculty guidance, participated in a quiz on nursing and health terminologies, and attended a documentary screening. The week concluded with feedback from the freshers and a Valedictory Function led by Dr. Kavitha M and Mrs. Kadirvelu Divya.
The six-day programme provided academic, professional, and cultural exposure, fostered peer bonding, and strengthened mentoring support. With active participation and positive feedback from students, the orientation marked a meaningful beginning to their professional journey in nursing at MCON.
