Professional Development Program on “Recent Advances in Prenatal Diagnosis” held at MMCHRI Enhances Clinical Insight

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, MMCHRI, organized a professional development program titled “Recent Advances in Prenatal Diagnosis” on 22 May 2025, aimed at enriching the knowledge of healthcare professionals in the rapidly evolving field of prenatal care and diagnostics.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. R. Jayanthi, Professor & Head of the Department of OBG, MMCHRI, followed by the Inaugural Address delivered by Prof. Dr. K.V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI. Dr. Boopathi, Medical Superintendent, MMCHRI, delivered the Keynote Address, emphasizing the importance of continual learning and adaptation in prenatal diagnostic technologies.

The scientific proceedings began with an insightful session by Dr. Parameshwar Keerthi B.H, Assistant Professor, Department of Radio Diagnosis, MMCHRI, titled “From Cells to Stories: Interpreting the First Trimester Ultrasound.” His session underscored the critical role of early imaging in identifying fetal anomalies and informing clinical decisions.

The afternoon focused on advances in genetic diagnostics with a session on “Recent Trends in Prenatal Genetic Diagnostics” by Dr. Sudha D, from Anderson Diagnostics and Labs. The presentation covered emerging technologies such as non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), chromosomal microarray analysis, and next-generation sequencing, offering participants a comprehensive overview of current best practices.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Harika, Assistant Professor, Department of OBG, who summarized key takeaways and emphasized the need to integrate these advancements into routine obstetric practice.
