Under the Auspicious guidance of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, on the occasion of International year of millets 2023, Debate competition was conducted for the School Students in Government High school of Parandhur village on 03.11.2023 by the Department of Community Medicine, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and National Service Scheme. Under the guidance of Dean Dr. Rajasekhar, Dr. Shankar (Professor and HOD), Dr.Pandiyan K.R (Associate Professor & UBA Co-coordinator) and under the supervision of Dr. Sakthivel (Senior Resident) the program was organized by faculties and postgraduates of Department of Community Medicine. The Headmaster of the Parandhur Government High school graced the occasion. There were about 60 students.
They debated on “The role of millets in diet : should millets be incorporated as an essential component of daily food habits or reserved as supplementary foods?”
The theme of this year was “Healthy millets Healthy people”.
Health Education regarding the Nutritive contents of the millets like Barnyard millet, Little millet ,Kodo millet ,Foxtail millet ,Pearl millet ,Ragi, Sorghum were explained by PG and CRMIs.
