The Student Council – SNA Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing organized a vibrant Ayudha Pooja celebration on 19th September 2025 at the College Conference Hall from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Ayudha Pooja, a traditional festival expressing gratitude towards books, tools, and vehicles, is an occasion that fosters cultural values and strengthens community spirit within the institution. On this auspicious day, the three principal goddesses—Saraswati (learning), Lakshmi (wealth), and Parvati/Durga (strength)—are invoked, symbolizing reverence for knowledge, prosperity, and strength.
The celebration was graced by the presence of Principal Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Vice Principal Dr. Jayabharathi B, along with faculty, staff, and students, who collectively worshipped Goddess Saraswati, honoring knowledge, art, and music. The College was adorned with mavilai thoranam made of mango leaves and marigolds, radiating festivity and devotion. The event commenced with the lighting of the kuthuvilakku by the dignitaries, followed by ceremonial rituals accompanied by the chanting of sacred slokas by a learned Iyer. The fragrance of flowers and the aroma of burning camphor added to the serene and spiritual ambience.
Library books, attendance registers, office files, and laboratory articles were respectfully placed on the puja pedestal and worshipped, highlighting reverence for learning and professional tools. Ms. Sailaja R, B.Sc. (N) II Year, delivered the welcome address, followed by cultural performances by B.Sc. (N) I and IV Year students, which included a classical dance and devotional songs, adding color and vibrancy to the occasion.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Gayathri R, B.Sc. (N) II Year, and the distribution of prasadam to all attendees, symbolizing prosperity and harmony.
The event beautifully blended sacred rituals with festive spirit, leaving a lasting impression of devotion, tradition, and togetherness.
