The Internal Complaints Committee of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) organized a Training on Assertive Behaviour on 7th May 2025, aimed at fostering effective communication and awareness among students.
The event commenced with a soulful invocation by the college choir, creating a serene and reflective ambiance for the session. Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal of MCON, delivered the keynote address, underscoring the significance of assertiveness as a vital life skill for students.
The resource person for the session, Dr. Anitha, Professor at MCON, led an engaging and interactive session focused on assertive communication. She emphasized the importance of expressing oneself in a direct, honest, and respectful manner—without intentionally hurting others. To enhance understanding, Dr. Anitha conducted a role play activity that actively involved the participants and demonstrated practical applications of assertive behaviour.
Additionally, Dr. Anitha provided insightful information about the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), outlining its purpose, functions, and the importance of creating a safe and supportive campus environment.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students enthusiastically asked questions and had their doubts clarified by the speaker. The programme was well-received and served as a valuable platform for promoting self-confidence, respectful communication, and awareness of students’ rights and responsibilities.
