The Student Nurses Association (SNA) and Cultural Committee of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON) commemorated World Dance Day 2025 on 2nd May, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., embracing the global theme “Dance’s Unifying Power to Transcend Cultural and Geographical Boundaries.” The celebration highlighted the universal language of dance and its role in fostering unity beyond borders.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. K. S. Sridevi Sangeetha, Vice Principal, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), who presided as the Chief Guest. The program commenced with the rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. K. Bakiyalakshmi, a IV Year B.Sc (N) student.
A special address was rendered by Prof. Dr. J. Vasantha Priya, AMCON, emphasizing the cultural significance of the day. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. K. S. Sridevi Sangeetha, delivered the keynote address, eloquently outlining the importance of dance in bridging cultural divides and nurturing global harmony.
The cultural segment featured seven dynamic dance performances by students from all four batches of the B.Sc (N) program, showcasing a rich tapestry of styles and traditions. The Chief Guest commended the efforts of the students and the organizing committee, expressing high appreciation for the quality and enthusiasm of the performances.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nivetha, a IV Year B.Sc (N) student, followed by the National Anthem, marking the end of a vibrant and inspiring celebration.
