World IPR Day 2025: Seminar on “Patents – An Overview” at MAHER

In celebration of World Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Day 2025, the IPR Cell of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at MAHER hosted a seminar titled “Patents – An Overview” on April 3rd, 2025. The event was designed to deepen the understanding of patents, their applications, and their vital role in driving innovation.
Dr. Deepa Boppana, MSc, Ph.D, LLB, an Indian-registered Patent Attorney and the Founder of Bhavesh Associates and Intellpat Patent Solutions in Chennai, graced the occasion with her esteemed presence. She shared her extensive expertise in patent laws and regulations through a detailed and insightful session, providing valuable insights into the intricacies of patents, the application process, and highlighting their growing importance in today’s rapidly evolving technological and scientific landscape. The event was further graced by the presence of several distinguished faculty members. Dr. Ponmurugan Paneerselvam, Dean, Doctoral Studies and Dean for IPR of MAHER, shared his support for the initiative, while Dr. Saravana Kumar, Associate Professor, Anatomy and IPR Coordinator of MMCHRI, and Dr. Ponnazhagan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Criteria 2 In charge, MAHER, contributed to the enriching discussions. The seminar was organized under the leadership of Dr. V. Ramnath, Principal, and Dr. K.S. Sridevi Sangeetha, Vice Principal (Academics) & IPR Cell Coordinator.
This insightful seminar not only enhanced participants’ knowledge of patents but also provided an excellent platform for networking and collaboration among experts, students, and faculty.
