The Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital & Research Institute (MMCHRI), Kanchipuram, organized a “World Psoriasis Day Awareness Program 2025” on October 29, 2025, at the OPD Waiting Hall. The event aimed to raise awareness among patients and the public about psoriasis- its symptoms, management, and the importance of early diagnosis.
The program commenced at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome address by Dr. R. Rajesh, followed by an awareness talk by Prof. Dr. S. Kumaravel, Professor and Head, Department of DVL, who highlighted the importance of understanding psoriasis and breaking the stigma surrounding it. A keynote address was delivered by Dr. K. Boopathi, Medical Superintendent, MMCHRI, emphasizing the need for empathy and timely intervention in managing chronic skin diseases.
Faculty members distributed informative pamphlets to patients and attendants, providing key insights into psoriasis care and treatment options. The one-hour session saw active participation from around 50 attendees, including patients, medical students, and faculty members, who engaged enthusiastically throughout the program.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. R. Nirmala, Assistant Professor, Department of Dermatology.
