The Faculty of Occupational Therapy organised an event on World Drug Day 2024, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26/06/2024. This year the theme set by the United Nations is “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention.” Dr. Deepa Sundareswaran, Principal, FOT addressed the gathering and conducted a lively and interactive session with the students on awareness of drug misuse and the harmful effects of the same. She reiterated the use of a helpline number at MAHER as a way of seeking help for loved ones.
Different activities like Speeches, Poster presentation and board art was done by students of FOT. Ms. Archana, final year student, spoke on Drug use reduction and Awareness. Ms. Divya, a first year student, emphasized the effect of using drugs on daily life. Mr. Gowtham, a first year student, presented a powerful poster titled “Say no to drugs.”
A short video depicting addiction called Nuggets, was also shown during the session. The students took a pledge for a drug-free community.
