MAHER Participates in the Inauguration of the Festival of Russian Culture

The Inauguration Ceremony of the Festival of Russian Culture in South India was held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 6 PM at the Russian House (formerly the Russian Centre for Science and Culture), Chennai. Hosted by Mr. Alexander Dodonov, Director of the Russian House, the exclusive event brought together diplomats, dignitaries, and representatives from leading educational institutions across Chennai.

MAHER was represented by Dr. P. Sagayaraj, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Science, and Mr. John Knox T., Assistant Professor, Department of English, who attended the program on behalf of the university. The evening featured captivating performances by students from Moldova State University, highlighting the cultural richness and ethnic diversity of Russia. The event was graced by the Director General of the Russian Consulate and diplomats from various nations.

The Russian House also presented its initiatives, including the Tal Chess Center – renowned for having trained Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand – along with Olympiad programs in math and science, Russian language courses, and a well-stocked cultural and literary library.

This cultural celebration not only showcased Russia’s heritage but also opened avenues for future collaborations between MAHER and the Russian House, paving the way for academic, cultural, and language-based partnerships.
