The Faculty of Yoga Science and Therapy (FYST) proudly hosted the World IPR Awareness Program – 2025 on 19th April, 2025, under the theme “Personal View on Creating Innovations.” The event aimed to deepen understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and inspire innovation among students and faculty.
The program commenced with a prayer and a welcome address by Prof. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, Faculty of Yoga Science and Therapy. The guest speaker, Dr. A. Josephin, Scientist, Department of Research, MAHER, delivered an engaging and insightful session on the importance of IPR, the patent process, and real-world innovations.
Dr. Josephin shared her personal journey with patenting unique innovations such as a medicinal lollipop made with cumin and garlic, an edible pen cap, a natural diabetic remedy using turmeric and drumstick leaves, and her research on Chlorella vulgaris. She also discussed the relevance and potential of IPR in the field of yoga, encouraging participants to explore ways to innovate and protect their ideas in wellness and therapy.
The session included interactive discussions and a lively Q&A segment, allowing students and faculty to engage directly with the topic and gain practical insights.
