As part of the ongoing academic collaboration and global exposure initiatives, a delegation from Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER) took part in Day 2 of the USIM Dental Boot Camp on Monday, May 19, 2025, hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
The MAHER team comprised Dr. R. Anitha, Deputy Registrar – Administration, and six undergraduate dental students: Aashiv Prakash, Bhavishya Prabhu, Ranjana Nataraj, Rajalakshmi Janakiraman, Sharon Jessica, and Harshad Balaji. The group departed from the Youth Residence in Nilai and arrived at the USIM Faculty of Dentistry by 9:50 AM.
The day’s program began with the Opening Ceremony, where Dr. Ainuddin Yushar Bin Yusof, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at USIM, welcomed the participants and provided an introductory overview of the faculty’s programs and infrastructure. Following this, Dr. R. Anitha presented an overview of MAHER, highlighting the university’s academic strengths, facilities, and credentials.
Participants were then taken on a detailed tour of the USIM dental campus, including visits to various pre-clinical departments, clinical and specialty clinics, laboratories, and postgraduate areas. This gave the MAHER students a comprehensive understanding of the academic and clinical environment at USIM.
After lunch at 1:30 PM, the delegation attended an insightful lecture on Dental Radiography delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Aspalilah. The session covered key areas such as the fundamentals of radiology, principles and types of radiographic techniques, intraoral and extraoral imaging methods, identification of anatomical landmarks, common artefacts in dental radiography, and advanced imaging technologies and their applications in modern dental practice.
The day concluded with the team returning to the Youth Residence in Nilai by 5:00 PM. The experience provided a rich blend of academic exchange and cultural interaction, reinforcing the value of international learning and collaboration.
