MMCHRI Celebrates National Doctors’ Day 2025 Honoring the Caregivers Behind the Mask

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital & Research Institute (MMCHRI), Kanchipuram, organized a heartfelt celebration on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day 2025 on 1st July 2025. This year’s theme, “Behind the Mask: Caring for Caregivers”, paid tribute to the emotional and physical resilience of doctors and emphasized the importance of prioritizing their well-being.

The event was graced by Dr. M. Manickavasagam, MD, DM, Professor and Head of Medical Oncology at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, who delivered an impactful special address. He shed light on the often-overlooked challenges faced by doctors, particularly during public health crises. His talk highlighted the importance of mental health support, work-life balance, and the role of institutions in nurturing the well-being of medical professionals.

As part of the celebrations, Dr. Govardhanan K., Professor of General Surgery, and Dr. Ursula Sampson, Professor of Biochemistry, were felicitated for their distinguished contributions to the institution. The event also included a prize distribution ceremony recognizing the best mentors, celebrating their dedication to guiding the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Adding a touch of joy and unity to the program, cultural performances by faculty members and students—featuring music, dance, and more—enlivened the atmosphere and reflected the spirit of appreciation and togetherness.

The event was a powerful reminder of the compassion, endurance, and dedication doctors embody, and a timely celebration of those who care for others while often placing their own needs aside.
