In commemoration of World Hepatitis Day 2025, the Meenakshi Faculty of Pharmacy organized a comprehensive awareness programme themed “Hepatitis – Let’s Break It Down” on 23rd July 2025, at the Government High School, Santhavellore Village, Kancheepuram District. The initiative aimed to educate rural communities on the control and prevention of hepatic infections through impactful outreach.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 45 pharmacy students and over 200 school students, making it a vibrant and inclusive community gathering. The program commenced with a formal visit to the Village President’s office, during which the President was felicitated by the college team in recognition of community collaboration. A tree plantation drive was conducted within the school campus as part of the institution’s green outreach, with the Village President, Vice President, faculty, and students jointly planting saplings to symbolize growth and sustainability.
During a community interaction session, the Village Vice President raised health concerns affecting the local population, such as kidney stones, cardiovascular issues, and joint pain. In response, the Principal of Meenakshi Faculty of Pharmacy pledged to coordinate with Meenakshi Medical College to organize a dedicated medical camp to address these needs.
The awareness session began with a welcome address by Mr. Arogyaswami, Headmaster of the school, who highlighted the importance of health awareness for students. The Principal of the Faculty of Pharmacy delivered an inspiring talk encouraging discipline, self-motivation, and active community participation.
Mr. Vendamani, Village President, commended the team’s efforts and emphasized the significance of promoting healthcare awareness at the grassroots level. Mr. Pughazhendhi, Associate Professor, delivered a detailed and engaging lecture on Hepatitis, explaining its causes, modes of transmission, symptoms, preventive measures, hygiene practices, and treatment options.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Assistant Headmaster, who praised the team for organizing a purposeful and impactful event. He also expressed hopes for continued collaboration to support the health and well-being of the village community.
