The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing, in collaboration with Kuzhalosai Trust, organized the “Thulir Palm Tree Plantation” program on 12th September 2025 at Thirutheri Thankal Eri, Chengalpet.
Guided by Mr. Dinesh Kumar. R, NSS Program Officer, 50 enthusiastic volunteers took part in the initiative and sowed 3,500 palm seeds in the lakebed of Thirutheri Thankal. As part of the program, Mr. Rajesh Manivasagam, Chairman of Kuzhalosai Trust, educated the volunteers on the environmental, agricultural, and socio-economic importance of palm trees, highlighting their role in soil conservation and water preservation.
The plantation drive not only encouraged students to take an active role in restoring ecological balance but also nurtured a strong sense of social responsibility and sustainable living. It served as a powerful reminder that collective action, even on a small scale, can lead to a meaningful and lasting impact on the environment and generations to come.
