The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON) organized an awareness program on “World Heart Day” on 29th September 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall, AMCON. The event aimed to educate students about cardiovascular health, preventive strategies, and the crucial role of youth in promoting community awareness.
The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Pavithra, B.Sc. (N) VI Semester, who emphasized the importance of collective participation in NSS activities. Dr. S. Victor Devasirvadam, Principal, AMCON, delivered a special address highlighting the significance of preventive health practices and encouraged NSS volunteers to extend their service beyond the campus to benefit the wider community.
An engaging PowerPoint presentation titled “Don’t Miss a Beat” was delivered by Mr. Dinesh Kumar. R, NSS Program Officer. The session focused on cardiac health, lifestyle modifications, early symptom recognition, and first-aid measures during emergencies. Students actively participated in the interactive discussion and gained valuable insights into heart care.
To further reinforce the theme, B.Sc. (N) students presented a skit titled “Heart Beat”, creatively depicting the consequences of neglecting heart health and the importance of timely medical intervention. The performance left a lasting impression on the audience and effectively conveyed the message of heart health awareness.
The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks. A total of 50 students benefited from the session. The event truly reflected the spirit of NSS by combining education, awareness, and service, inspiring volunteers to promote heart health within their communities.
