The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Meenakshi College of Nursing organized an Awareness Programme on “Creating a Safe and Supportive Work Environment” on 7 January 2026, with the objective of sensitizing students and faculty on workplace safety, dignity, and the prevention of harassment. The programme began with a soulful invocation rendered by the college choir, setting a serene and respectful tone for the session. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Sivasankari, B.Sc. (N) II Year, MCON.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON, who emphasized the importance of fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment free from harassment. In her address, she highlighted employees’ rights and responsibilities and underlined the collective role of the academic community in upholding dignity, mutual respect, and ethical conduct at the workplace.
The awareness session was further enriched by the presence of distinguished resource persons, Mrs. S. A. Souvarna Latha, Sub Inspector of Police, Mangadu, Chennai, and Mrs. L. Bakkiyalakshmi, Head Constable of Police, Mangadu, Chennai. They created strong awareness on the prevention of sexual harassment by sharing practical insights, legal perspectives, and real-life case studies. The resource persons elaborated on complaint handling procedures and encouraged students to be vigilant, informed, and proactive in safeguarding workplace ethics.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, with active discussions and open interaction. Participants clarified their doubts and expressed appreciation for the informative and engaging nature of the session. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem. A total of 134 students and 12 faculty members benefited from the programme, and the feedback received highlighted the relevance, clarity, and effectiveness of the awareness initiative, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in creating a safe and supportive professional environment.
