Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), under the aegis of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, organized a Workshop on “Yoga and Naturopathy” on 23rd February 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall, MCYST, exclusively for its students. The workshop was designed to deepen understanding of holistic healing systems and highlight the significance of drugless therapies in preventive and promotive healthcare.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. P. Karthika, Assistant Professor, MCYST, who emphasized the growing relevance of naturopathy in contemporary healthcare and underscored its role in strengthening the body’s innate healing mechanisms. The resource person, Dr. S. Prasanth, BNYS, M.Sc., Ph.D., from the Department of Yoga Philosophy at Government Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College and Hospital, delivered an insightful lecture outlining the foundational principles of naturopathy and its therapeutic applications in enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
A key highlight of the workshop was the practical demonstration of traditional naturopathic therapies including Mud Bath, Sun Bath, and Plantain Leaf Bath. The scientific rationale and therapeutic benefits of these treatments were explained in detail, particularly their role in detoxification, improving circulation, boosting immunity, and restoring overall vitality. The live demonstrations enabled students to appreciate both the theoretical and clinical dimensions of naturopathic practice.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. G. Raghuram, Assistant Professor, MCYST, who expressed sincere appreciation to the resource person, management, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
The workshop served as a valuable experiential learning platform, reinforcing the principles of holistic health and the importance of integrating traditional healing sciences into modern wellness frameworks.
