Meenakshi College of Nursing Leads with Purpose at Avadi Walkathon for Health Awareness

emonstrating a strong commitment to community health and social responsibility, the Rotaract Club of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), in association with the Rotaract Club of Madras Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MIHMCT) and the Health Department, Avadi, actively participated in a Walkathon held on 13th March 2026 from 6.00 AM to 9.00 AM.

The walkathon commenced at the CVRDE–OCF Junction (Krishnamenon Statue) and covered an extensive 8-kilometre route through key locations including Arjun Path, AVNL Office, Ajay Stadium, Solar Panel Road, HVF Training Center, and HVF Main Gate, before culminating at the starting point. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various colleges across Avadi, Poonamallee, and Thiruvallur, reflecting a collective commitment towards promoting health and wellness.

Adding significance to the occasion, the Honorable Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ma. Subramaniyam, joined the walk, inspiring participants and reinforcing the importance of physical fitness and preventive healthcare.

A total of 42 students, along with faculty members from Meenakshi College of Nursing, took part in the initiative with great enthusiasm, showcasing unity, discipline, and civic engagement.

Such initiatives serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of collective action in building a healthier society.
