The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, Meenakshi College of Nursing, organized a World Health Day programme on 7th April 2026 from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM, embracing the global theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.”
The programme commenced with an invocation song by the MCON Choir, followed by a welcome address delivered by Ms. Sailaja M, B.Sc. (N) III Year. The event was coordinated by Mrs. E. Bhuvaneswari, Professor, MCON.
Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of scientific collaboration in safeguarding the health of people, animals, plants, and the environment. The session highlighted the need for evidence-based practices and collective efforts in addressing global health challenges.
As part of the celebration, various engaging activities were conducted. Ms. Yogalakshmi R, B.Sc. (N) III Year, delivered a special speech on the theme, focusing on key aspects such as the importance of standing with science, the One Health approach, rebuilding trust, and fostering collaboration in healthcare. The B.Sc. (N) IV Year students presented a mime performance conveying the significance of maintaining good health and self-care practices.
A notable highlight of the event was the formation of a solidarity human chain by faculty and students at Leelavathy Nagar near the campus, symbolizing their commitment to global health and community well-being.
The programme witnessed active participation from 186 students, 12 faculty members, and 10 non-teaching staff. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Gayathri R, B.Sc. (N) III Year, followed by the National Anthem.
This engagement enhanced students’ understanding of global health concepts, scientific collaboration, and public health responsibility, while strengthening their communication skills and community awareness.
