The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing observed World Earth Day on 29th April 2026 at Kozhumanivakkam, Chennai, with the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” emphasizing collective responsibility towards protecting and preserving the environment.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Kaviya, B.Sc. Nursing III Year student, MCON. Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, Meenakshi College of Nursing, delivered the keynote address highlighting the importance of conserving natural resources and safeguarding the environment for future generations. Mrs. R. Jebin Sherly, Associate Professor, MCON, delivered the theme speech focusing on community action, the importance of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy, and the use of sustainable products to ensure a healthier planet for the future.As part of the programme, a pledge was taken by the public and volunteers to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives. Interactive questions related to Earth Day and environmental conservation were posed to the public, and prizes were distributed by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj to encourage participation and awareness.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Yogeshwari, B.Sc. Nursing III Year student, MCON. Nearly 38 members of the public benefited from the awareness initiative.The event promoted environmental awareness, community participation, and sustainable living practices, while encouraging students to actively engage in public education and environmental responsibility.
