The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, in association with the R&D and Consultancy Unit of Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, successfully conducted a hands-on workshop on “Immunohistochemistry (IHC)” on 14th February 2026. The programme was designed to familiarize participants with the fundamental principles, technical methodology, and practical applications of IHC in diagnostic pathology. A total of 15 participants registered for the workshop.
The session commenced at 8:30 a.m. with an introductory briefing on materials and methodology by Mr. N. V. Subash Kolappan. This was followed by an intensive hands-on training session in which each postgraduate participant worked independently on individual tissue sections. Participants were guided step-by-step through the IHC procedure using two key markers—CD34 and SMA—widely applied in diagnostic evaluation.
Throughout the programme, Mr. Subash provided practical insights, troubleshooting strategies, and expert guidance to ensure clarity in staining techniques and interpretation of results. The interactive learning environment enabled participants to gain confidence in performing and analyzing IHC procedures.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants, along with special recognition awarded to the top three performers in the quiz conducted as part of the programme. The event formally ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. B. Kavitha.
