Meenakshi Ammal Dental College Celebrates International Women’s Day with Empowerment Seminar

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Internal Complaints Committee of Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, in collaboration with the Department of Periodontics, organized an empowerment seminar on 6th March 2026 at the college auditorium.

The highlight of the programme was an inspiring lecture titled “Empowering Women with Strength” delivered by Ms. Easwari Andiappan, recognized as India’s first woman triathlete to complete a triathlon on Indian soil. Her address motivated participants by emphasizing resilience, determination, and the importance of physical and mental strength in achieving personal and professional goals.

A specialized session for the college community was conducted by Dr. Priya Mahesh, Member of the Internal Complaints Committee, focusing on empowerment, awareness, and the role of women in academic and healthcare environments. In addition, a dedicated health session titled “Pause a Minute to Be Healthy During Menopause” was organized specifically for non-teaching staff, highlighting the institution’s commitment to comprehensive women’s health and well-being.

The programme was graced by the Principal, Dr. Velmurugan, along with Vice-Principals Dr. Annaporani and Dr. Lambodaran, and Dr. Jaideep Mahendra, Head of the Department of Periodontics, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of empowering women through education, health awareness, and supportive institutional initiatives.

The event witnessed active participation from around 250 attendees, including teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students. The celebration served as a meaningful platform to promote awareness, inclusivity, and holistic well-being, reinforcing the importance of empowering women across all spheres of society.
