On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the NSS Unit of Meenakshi Ammal Dental College organized a Tree Plantation Programme on 5th June 2026 in association with the Rotary Club of Chennai Port City.
As part of the initiative, the Rotary Club of Chennai Port City, in collaboration with Pasumai Amaippu, donated 50 medicinal tree saplings to the institution. The saplings were planted across the college campus with the objective of promoting environmental sustainability, enhancing green cover, and creating awareness about the importance of ecological conservation.
The programme was graced by Dr. N. Velmurugan, Principal, Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, and Dr. Lambodharan, Vice Principal, who actively participated in the plantation drive. Representatives from the Rotary Club of Chennai Port City and Pasumai Amaippu also joined the event, contributing to its success and significance.
The tree plantation programme served as a meaningful step towards environmental stewardship and encouraged students and faculty members to actively participate in initiatives that support a greener and healthier future. The event successfully reinforced the importance of sustainable practices and collective responsibility in protecting the environment.
