The Department of Psychology, Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS), in association with Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), organised the first programme of the Indian Knowledge System Lecture Series – I on 27 August from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the MAHER Auditorium. The programme, titled “Decoding the Genius of Ancient India,” aimed to help students understand the historical development, contemporary relevance, and practical applications of India’s rich knowledge traditions.
Dr. Srividhya S., Dean – Academics, felicitated the Chief Guest, Mr. Santosh Ramakrishnan, M.Sc., M.Tech., Chief Enterprise Architect and Chief Technology Officer, with a memento as a mark of respect and appreciation for his presence. The Chief Guest delivered an insightful and interactive lecture, drawing upon his expertise in Enterprise Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Indian Classical Music, and Sanskrit studies. He highlighted the significant contributions of ancient India to Mathematics, Classical Music, Computer Science, Analytics, Linguistics, and Decision Sciences.
The session traced the evolution of Indian knowledge traditions from the Sulba Sutras, Panini’s Ashtadhyayi, Pingala’s binary concepts, classical musical traditions, and Kautilya’s Arthashastra to their applications in modern technology, Artificial Intelligence, business, leadership, and data analytics. Students were encouraged to embrace the core values of the Indian Knowledge System, including intellectual rigour, multidisciplinary learning, ethical leadership, creativity, and respect for diverse perspectives.
A total of 174 students actively participated in the programme and benefited from the valuable insights and perspectives shared by the Chief Guest. The lecture provided an enriching learning experience and deepened students’ appreciation of India’s intellectual heritage and its continued relevance in contemporary society.
As part of the programme, a painting competition was also organised, providing students with an opportunity to creatively express their understanding of the theme. The winners and participants were recognised and awarded for their efforts and achievements.
