On the occasion of Founder’s Day and in honour of the beloved Founder, Thiru. A. N. Radhakrishnan, Meenakshi College of Occupational Therapy (MCOT), MAHER, organized a meaningful therapeutic outreach session for the children of Child Haven International India on 21st May 2026.
The initiative was conducted as part of a university-wide community outreach programme involving multiple departments dedicated to social service and community engagement. The programme was planned with collaborative inputs from Principal Prof. Deepa Sundareswaran and faculty members, and was conducted under the guidance of Assistant Professor Ms. R. Kaviya. The session was actively facilitated by Ms. Keertanaa R. B. and Ms. Sri Vinaya Varshini M., first-year Master of Occupational Therapy students.
Recognizing the importance of play in child development, the team carefully designed a series of therapeutic and engaging activities aimed at improving cognitive, motor, and social skills among children. The session included brain gym exercises to enhance mind-body coordination, attention-building games, motor planning activities, and multi-step tasks to improve command-following abilities.
Children from different age groups enthusiastically participated in the activities, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere filled with curiosity, interaction, and teamwork. Their active involvement and positive response reflected the effectiveness of the session in supporting developmental growth and emotional well-being.
