Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy Promotes a Safe Campus Through Anti-Ragging Awareness Week

Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), under the Anti-Ragging Committee, organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Week commencing on 12th August 2026 to sensitise students about the harmful effects of ragging and reinforce the importance of a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

The programme was inaugurated with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, MCYST, who emphasized the importance of discipline, mutual respect, dignity, and responsible behaviour among students. As part of the inaugural programme, all MCYST students participated in an Anti-Ragging Pledge, reaffirming their collective commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus.

An anti-ragging awareness short film from the UGC Anti-Ragging Portal was screened to sensitise students to the consequences of ragging, preventive measures, and the importance of reporting incidents. Awareness posters carrying messages on zero tolerance towards ragging were also displayed at prominent locations to reinforce the campaign.

As part of the week-long activities, an Online Anti-Ragging Quiz Competition was conducted on 18th August 2026 for MAHER students. The quiz covered the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations, preventive measures, student responsibilities, and reporting mechanisms, providing an engaging platform for students to strengthen their awareness. More than 200 students actively participated in the online quiz.

The awareness initiative encouraged students to uphold dignity, empathy, mutual respect, and responsible conduct, strengthening the collective commitment towards creating a safe and supportive educational environment.
