MMCHRI Hosts CME on Breastfeeding and Human Milk Banking as Part of Breastfeeding Week Celebrations

As part of the World Breastfeeding Week 2026 celebrations, the Department of Paediatrics, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on 6th August 2026. The programme brought together medical professionals and faculty members to discuss contemporary aspects of breastfeeding, ranging from common challenges to advanced practices in human milk banking.

The CME was presided over by the Dean, MMCHRI, along with the Vice Principals (Academics and Student Welfare), Resident Medical Officer, and Medical Director. The programme featured Dr. G. Kannan, Assistant Professor of Neonatology, Venkateshwara Medical College, as the guest speaker, along with Dr. Muralikrishnan, Dr. Hariharan, Dr. Ubaidur Rahman, and Dr. Manasa from the Department of Paediatrics, and Dr. Herosha from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MMCHRI.

The scientific sessions covered a wide range of topics related to breastfeeding, addressing common issues encountered during breastfeeding as well as advanced human milk banking techniques. The expert-led discussions provided valuable insights into improving breastfeeding practices and strengthening knowledge among healthcare professionals involved in maternal and child healthcare.
