On December 19, 2023, the Faculty of Humanities and Science (FHS) under the National Service Scheme (NSS) initiative executed a relief operation aimed at relieving the distress experienced by individuals by the Michaung Cyclone. The undertaking focused on Choolai Pallam MGR Nagar, Chennai, targeting residents whose economic provisions had been significantly affected by the cyclonic event. In this philanthropic undertaking, the team distributed a total of 160 food packets, each valued at Rs. 250, to the identified beneficiaries. The packets were distributed to the residents of Choolai Pallam MGR Nagar.
The non-teaching staff members associated with MAHER were also provided with financial support and food packets. Faculty of MAHER 15 dedicated student volunteers actively participated in the distribution process under the guidance of three faculty members. This collaborative effort not only addressed the immediate nutritional needs of the affected population but also highlighted the importance of community engagement and social responsibility. By engaging in hands-on humanitarian work, students gained insights into the practical dimensions of empathy, philanthropy, and the social implications of natural disasters.
