AMCON Observes International Midwives Day 2025

On 5th May, 2025, Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing proudly participated in the observance of International Midwives Day, hosted by the Indian Nursing Council. The theme for this year, “Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis,” highlighted the indispensable role midwives play in healthcare systems, especially during times of emergency and crisis.

The event was conducted virtually and streamed live via a webcast, enabling widespread participation across the country. The Principal, faculty members, and B.Sc. Nursing students of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing attended the session through the designated YouTube link, reflecting the institution’s commitment to continued learning and support for global healthcare initiatives.

The celebration began at 11:00 AM with a formal inauguration by the Honorable Chief Guest, followed by a series of powerful addresses and discussions centered on the critical contributions of midwives in ensuring safe childbirth and providing essential care during public health emergencies.

Through the live webcast, participants were able to engage with insightful dialogues on the evolving role of midwifery, the challenges faced in crisis situations, and the ongoing efforts to strengthen midwifery education and recognition in India. The event served not only as a tribute to midwives but also as a platform to raise awareness about the profession’s pivotal place in the healthcare landscape.
