Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON), in collaboration with the Student Nurses Association (SNA) and the Cultural Committee, celebrated International Nurses Day – 2025 on May 12, 2025, at the 250 Lecture Hall, MMCHRI. The event, themed “Our Nurses, Our Future – Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies”, honored the contributions and vital role of nurses in healthcare and society.
The celebrations commenced with the traditional Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting by dignitaries. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Edna Sweenie J. R.N.M., PhD (N), Deputy Director and Professor, Sri Venkateswara Group of Nursing Institutions, Andhra Pradesh, presided over the occasion and delivered a thought-provoking address highlighting the importance of empowering nurses.
The program featured a welcome dance by Ms. Abinaya (IV Semester, B.Sc Nursing), an English speech on the theme by Ms. Devasri M (VI Semester, B.Sc Nursing), and an engaging MIME performance by IV semester students. Competitions in poster making and rangoli were also held, with prizes distributed by the chief guest. The birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale was marked with the distribution of sweets.
Prof. Dr. Raghavendran, Vice Principal, delivered the inaugural address, and the event was skillfully anchored by Mr. Naren M and Ms. Sujitha B. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Shrimathi, Assistant Professor, and the National Anthem.
The event was well received, with the Chief Guest commending the efforts and spirit of the AMCON team, extending heartfelt wishes on the occasion of Nurses Day.
