Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June, 2025 with an impactful awareness program aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle among students.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 109 students and faculty members. The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Manju, a first-year B.Sc (N) student. Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal of MCON, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the alarming rise of drug abuse among youth and the collective responsibility to combat this menace through education and vigilance.

A highlight of the event was the pledge taken by all attendees to abstain from drugs and commit to a healthy, positive way of life. To further engage students in reflective thinking, an essay competition on the topic “Social Media’s Impact on Drug Awareness” was conducted. Students from B.Sc (N) I & II years showcased their insights, with Ms. Manju (B.Sc I Year) and Ms. Rachelin Christina (B.Sc II Year) emerging as prize winners.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Puneeth, a first-year B.Sc (N) student. The event served as a powerful reminder of the role educational institutions play in shaping a drug-free, aware, and responsible generation.
