Soft Skills Programme on 5S Awareness Held at MCON

The Meenakshi College of Nursing, MAHER, organized a Soft Skills Programme on “5S Awareness” on 24th July 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with the aim of educating students on the significance and practical application of the 5S methodology in both professional and personal spheres.

A total of 97 students and 7 faculty members enthusiastically participated in the session, which was coordinated by Dr. Thephilah Cathrine R, Associate Professor, MCON. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Anitha J, Professor, MCON, followed by a keynote address by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON. In her remarks, Dr. Fabiola highlighted that the initiative was a step toward aligning with global professional standards and fostering a culture of discipline, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

The guest speaker, Ms. Lydia Annie J, Chief Nursing Officer, Kauvery Hospital, Chennai, delivered an insightful session on the 5S principles—Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), and Shitsuke (Sustain). She emphasized how the adoption of these practices can significantly enhance workplace efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall safety and organization.

The programme concluded with a Q&A session, providing attendees an opportunity to interact and clarify their queries, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Thephilah Cathrine R. Participants expressed strong appreciation for the session, noting its relevance and usefulness in both academic and real-world settings.
